August 2011 The 1260-seat Theatre West Virginia (Beckley, West Virginia) welcomes Rocket Boys for a huge and highly-anticipated run this August 26 thru September 4, 2011! West Virginia's original "rocket boy" son and best-selling author Homer Hickam returns to his home state with the musical's Creative Team for a full-scale production. Further details TBA. Prodigious! August 2011 John Ellison, known for writing the hit Soul Brothers Six song “Some Kind of Wonderful”, is a contemporary of Homer Hickam who also grew up in McDowell County, West Virginia. John has written a song called “Let Your Hair Hang Down” especially for Theatre West Virginia's production of the show, and we're excited to share:

June 2010 Rocket Boys held a major industry reading for Universal Pictures on June 7 in NY!

May 2008 Rocket Boys heads to “Rocket City” for two major staged readings at the beautiful, state-of-the-art Merrimack Hall in Huntsville, Alabama. The reading will be preceded by a private Gala with Homer Hickam (Book) and the entire Creative Team, as well as special “sneak-preview” performances of new material in the show. March 2008 Rocket Boys is chosen as one of three top winners in ANMT’s inaugural “Search for New Musicals” competition! The project is awarded a full staff reading and workshop to be held in Los Angeles in late April. ANMT is the west coast version of the BMI Lehman-Engel Workshop for Musical Theatre, and includes on its board such luminaries as Stephen Schwartz, Hal Prince and Marty Panzer.
